In the 1982 film The Dark Crystal the puppets were created by Jim Henson who is most commonly known as the puppeteer behind the creation of The Muppets. This was surprising for me to figure out simply because of the sheer difference in aesthetic between the two worlds.
The concept artist for The Dark crystal is Brian Froud the designs he did for the film where mainly all done with watercolour and coloured pencils (examples below)

Creating visuals
The plan for these images was to start trying to blend my paintings skills with another media, for this I chose that wax based pencils would be the best choice since I could try to experiment with wax resistance instead of using masking fluid. For the first two however I have decided to see how the two would look if they were layered on top of each other using the pencils to add more depth and precise lines.
