-Research artists/ illustrators who have tackled the issue before.
-Research artists/ illustrators who have not tackled this issue before and have interesting styles and ways of working that I can take inspiration from.
-Fully research topic so I can make informed decisions
-Make many thumbnails for each idea that I produce.
-If an idea comes really easily, make sure to fully experiment with it to make sure you can make your work as good as it can be, instead of going for the easiest option.

Topic- Shark Finning
Research
What is shark finning?
-Shark finning is the process of slicing off a sharks fin and discarding the rest of the still living body, often by dumping it back into the ocean where it will die slowly.
-Shark finning kills an estimated 100 million or more shark globally per yea. Tens of millions more sharks and rays are killed each year, primarily though illegal, unregulated and unreported fishing.
-Sharks are apex predators and play a vital role in maintaining marine ecosystems. Without them, marine animals and habitats would suffer.
-Many types of sharks are exploited for their fins including endangered species such as the scalloped hammerhead and the great hammerhead.
-Shark fin soup is a soup or stewed dish served in parts of china, Taiwan and southeast Asia. One of the main reasons to be finning sharks.

Artist research
David Carson
David Carson is a self taught graphic designer who has transformed the field of graphic design. Working with other people in the same work field as him they created a lot of works all under the name of Kill the Fin Trade. Out of the pieces of work that were made for this the work of David Carson stood out the most to me since I feel like I would tackle this in the same way that he has.

Exploring Visuals
My plan for my visuals for this project is to evoke sympathy from the people who see it. For example I plan to have a mixture of textures since I will be working in watercolour I will also use gouache to have a mixture of water texture mixed with block texture with the gouache.

New Idea After Feedback
To create these I used a mixture of different tones of watercolour paint, I decided that i would take advantage of the natural properties of watercolour paint and let the paint pool up. This then allowed me to be able to sprinkle salt on top to add more interesting textures and give a more blood like effect
Turning them into sticker designs
Final Sticker Design
My aim is take these designs and print them off onto sticker paper.
